In particular, I would like to thank Irene Fatuzzo, wedding planner in Sicily, for her precious contribution to the creation of this selection. Borgo del Carato
Borgo del Carato is a luxury country resort, housed in an ancient estate dating from the 1800. This beautiful Sicilian wedding venue is only few miles away from Syracuse. The old depots, laborers’ lodgings and the Baron’s dwelling have been turned into today’s rooms. They were purposely renovated maintaining their original style featuring all the comforts to make visitors experience a truly relaxing holiday.
Borgo del Carato has 20 rooms available for guests. Including a suite with a panoramic terrace overlooking the swimming pool and the 90 hectares of the private park surrounding the venue. The wellness and fitness centre is an extra pampering, especially to let couples destress before their wedding day.
With such a variety of spaces available, you are spoiled for choice. It is possible to host the ceremony in the garden under the centuries-old carob trees. Alternatively, you can celebrate your wedding in the intimate church giving onto the main courtyard. Guests may then enjoy an aperitif by the swimming pool or in the courtyard with a traditional Sicilian antipasti buffet. In conclusion of a fine wedding day you can experience the dinner in the beautiful terrace. Here a great view over the stone caves, under twinkling lights ceiling and a starry sky make the atmosphere perfect.
Villa Fegotto is one of the most important witnesses of the Sicilian historical and cultural heritage. Run by several noble families over the decades, Fegotto was a productive feud from the 17th century to the 1950s, specialised mainly on the production of wine, olives, carobs, and almonds. With such focus on production, a series of other buildings were built in addition to the manor house around the two main courtyards. The barn, the cellar, the millstone, the oil mill, the stables, the diary and even the blacksmith’s forge and the carpenter’s shop. Over the years, Fegotto became a social and economic landmark for the area so that a chapel, a state school, and a post office were built inside the estate. All these buildings are still perfectly preserved, with their original furnishing.
These features make Villa Fegotto a truly unique wedding location in Sicily. This venue could be the perfect choice for those couples who desire a wedding with an authentic Sicilian soul. The historic Gardens around the Villa, with their traditional Italian design, are one of the most suggestive areas of Fegotto. For instance, it could be the ideal space to host a civil or symbolic ceremony. Or to welcome guests for the opening reception and grand buffet of antipasti.
Walking through the two main courtyards of the seat, the Baglio and the Court of Olives, brings wonderful feelings. With the soothing scent of jasmine and the only sound of nature, it feels like stepping back in time when the feud was in its golden age.
Both the courtyards are the perfect areas for either the antipasti buffet or the dinner. For a highly scenic cake cut, the spot at the bottom of the magnificent staircase on the main façade is one of our favourite options.
Tenuta Savoca is a traditional Sicilian country residence of the 1800s. A dense forest of poplars trees surrounds this beautiful venue in the heart of the archaeological area of Piazza Armerina. In this family-run venue everyone offers the warmest support to the couples. Since they offer support organising the wedding day covering the couples by attentions and special treatments.
The manor house and the Borgo are the true soul of the venue where time seems to have stopped and Sicilian traditions are still alive. Among stalls with live cooking corners and an old stone oven, you can yet experience a village feast with all the most authentic scents and flavours of the past.
Then, if you are looking for a fairytale-inspired wedding, then the forest of Tenuta Savoca is one of the most suggestive venues in Sicily. You can exchange vows surrounded by nature, walking down the aisle among tall poplars trees and wooden logs as seats. The forest is big enough to even host the reception afterwards. And in case of unstable weather conditions, the Sala Bosco still offers a wooden wonderland atmosphere.
Furthermore, this venue offers 13 rooms and a swimming pool. That’s to ensure you a beautiful time spending few days more together with closest family and friends.
